It's a Taping Party!

The school year is coming up fast! Which means our Fall brochure will be out shortly. Speaking of our Fall brochure, we are in need of volunteers to help us tape the brochures and get them ready for mailing. We have planned a 'Taping Party' for September 10th from Noon to 6 PM downstairs in the Montesano Public Library. We will conduct our monthly meeting at 3:30PM the same day in the same location. This will be a 'work meeting' if you are interested in volunteering for classes or volunteering to help Montesano Community Education operations, please attend. You do not need to be present for the entire taping party but if you have an hour or two to spare to help us tape our brochures for mailing, please consider meeting us in the meeting room downstairs of the library anytime between Noon and 6 PM. Thank you!

Better Late than Never...

Our Garden Tour, Wine Tasting, Rolls Royce Extravaganza was a huge success!  We sold many tickets for our Basket Raffle and both combined raised over $4000 for Montesano Community Education!  

A HUGE Thank You to Dolores Cavanah for the use of her beautiful garden estate!

Every volunteer did a great job and we so appreciate the time you took to help our cause.

And another HUGE Thank You to all who purchased tickets for our event and for the basket raffle.  Your support of Montesano Community Education is priceless.

That being said, we wanted to take the opportunity to remind you that we are currently on hiatus.  Summer has arrived and there are many plans in place.  We will be working on the Fall Brochure and it will be sent out during September.

Danielle will be in the MHS home Ec Room from 6-7:30PM this evening to show us some budget friendly, gluten free recipes.  Cooking Gluten Free is made easy!

Join Helen as she facilitates a discussion with folks who have traveled the Inside Passage to Ketchikan, Juneau, Haines, Skagway and Sitka. Learn how to make reservations, what to expect and more! This information extravaganza will take place at Monte Timberland Library from 7 - 8:30 tonight!

*Mindfulness in the Kitchen with Thay Kobai Whitney has been moved from this Saturday to June 13th from 10 AM to 2 PM.
*Mrs. Bolam's Patriotic Treats class will still be June 13th BUT the time has been moved to 8 AM - 9 AM.

Upcoming Classes for the Week of May 4th

*Join Steve Hepp on May 7th in the MHS Library for Popular Folk Songs of the 60's.  This class will take place fro 7 - 8:30 PM and will include songs by Peter, Paul and Mary, The Kingston Trio, Bob Dylan, The Brothers Four and Simon & Garfunkel.  Lyrics and guitar player will be furnished but feel free to bring an instrument if you play!
*For Saturday, May 9th, join Mrs Bolam for Mother's Day Treats.  This class will be from 10 - 11 AM in the MHS Home Ec Room.  This class is specifically for children in K thru 6th Grade only.

Baking with Janie

*Join Janie as she teaches how to make Orange Bow Knots, Cinnamon Rolls and Lazy Girl Jule Kaga. This baking extravaganza will take place in the MHS Home Ec Rm on Wednesday the 29th from 7 - 9 PM. Taste Testing included so bring your appetite.
*For those of you who have already ordered your kits, Kimber Stewart will be facilitating a Tastefully Simple Kids Freezer Meal Workshop on Saturday, May 2nd from 10:30 - 11:30 AM in the MHS Home Ec Rm. Kimber will also be providing a Tastefully Simple Summer Sizzle Menu Workshop on June 6th for adults. So, keep the date as the kits for the June 6th program will need to be ordered no later than May 25th.

Classes for Saturday April 25, 2015

*Join Marie Oestreich Saturday from 10:30 - 12:30 at the MHS Art Room for Collage Class. This is a mixed media collage workshop where you will create a one of a kind mixed media collage. Please contact Marie @ 360-581-3359 for more information.
*Also for Saturday, H20 Natural Skincare with Debby Smith. Join Debby as she details how H2Bio products are different from natural/organic products. This class will take place at the Montesano Timberland Library from 2:30 - 3:30.

MCE Basket Raffle Fundraiser

We are raffling 4 baskets on June 20, 2015 at our Garden Tour, Rolls Royce & Bentley Display, & Wine Tasting Fundraiser.  Dolores Cavanah has, so generously, donated the use of her award winning gardens as the backdrop to the elegant event.

The tickets for the Basket Raffle are $5 each.  The four baskets being raffled are:

• Seattle Mariners Tickets (4) and Gear Basket
• Seattle Seahawks Richard Sherman Laser signed Mini Collectable Football and Gear Basket
• Wine & Goodies Basket
• Gourmet Coffee and Treats Basket

Please contact an MCE Volunteer to purchase tickets.  Or find us on Facebook.  You do not need to be present at the drawing on June 20, 2015 to win but who wants to miss the Garden Tour, Rolls Royce & Bentley Display, & Wine Tasting Fundraiser?  Not me!  Tickets for the June 20th event are $25 each and provide the Garden Tour, 5 Wine Tastings and unlimited stares at antique world class Rolls Royce, Bentley and other British Automobiles!

Intro to Laminated Dough with Dick Stone

Join Dick Stone to explore how to make the buttery, flaky dough that is used to make croissants, Danish pastry and puff pastry. Tasting will be included. This class will take place tonight from 7-9 in the MHS Home Ec Room.

MCE Spring 2015 Brochure

The Brochure has been completed and it is currently being printed.  Our volunteers are working hard to get it ready to be sent out.  We hope to have it in the mailboxes of EVERYONE in the 98563 Zip Code by Saturday/Monday!

We're Having A Party!

One week from tonight, MCE is throwing a Birthday Party! We are 40 this year and we could not have done it without the help of our community of life-long learners. On March 31st from 5-8 at the Montesano Timberland Library, the MCE volunteers will be serving birthday cake, coffee, and good conversation! We will be taking orders for MCE T-Shirts and we will begin selling tickets for our Basket Raffle Fundraiser. We will be posting pictures of the Baskets in the next few days. We also would love to hear your ideas for classes and if you are interested in teaching a class, we would love to sign you up! Meet us there! We would love to see you!

Classes for Saturday, 2/28/15

Join Marie Job in the MHS Home EC Room tomorrow from 10 am to 12:30 pm for Cake Building 101.  She covers the art of baking, filling and frosting a cake with with confidence!  There is a $20 instructor fee and you must be 18 or older to attend the class.  Also, for Saturday, Marie Oestreich will be in the MHS Art Room for Collage Class.  She will teach you how to make an interesting mixed media collage.  Contact Marie @ 360-581-3359 for more information.

Refuse to be a Victim with Monica Cowles

This Saturday, February 21st, join Monica Cowles as she teaches how you can 'Refuse to be a Victim' Join fellow like minded individuals in the quest for knowledge concerning crime prevention and personal safety! This class meets in the W.H. Abel Timberland Library in Montesano from 8 AM - Noon. There is an Instructor fee of $30 as well as the MCE class fee of $5.  Please call 360-249-1770 for more information.

We're having a birthday!

Montesano Community Education is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year.  MCE has been facilitating the life long learners of Montesano and Grays Harbor county to continue their love of learning since the 1974/1975 school year!

March 31, 2015, Join the MCE volunteers as we celebrate our Birthday with our community!  Our birthday bash will take place at the W.H. Abel Timberland Library in Montesano from 5 PM to 8 PM.  We will have cake and coffee and we will draw to find the winner of our raffle.  We will be raffling off a variety of baskets, Seahawks, Mariners and Wine baskets, just to name a few.  We will have more details on the baskets soon!

Craft Classes with Ms. Girts

Join the fun making Valentine crafts!  Children in the 1st or 2nd grades can participate in this class.  Please be sure to register your child early as spaces are limited and Ms. Girts will need to make sure sufficient materials are available for the craft making.  This class will take place in Ms. Girts class room at Beacon Elementary from 3-4:30 on Thursday February 12th. Welcome to our new page!

Montesano Community Education is a non profit charitable organization located in Montesano, WA.  MCE works closely with the Montesano School District and we use Montesano schools for a lot of our continuing education classes.  MCE has been providing community education classes to the lifelong learners of Montesano and surrounding Grays Harbor County since the 1974/1975 school year.  This year we celebrate our 40th birthday!  We are planning a big birthday bash for March '15.  We will keep you updated as plans come together so check back often.
